Challenges Faced by BUZBE

BUZBE came to us with a great new innovative design that they were confident would revolutionize the sport fishing industry. After talking with other engineers, mold makers, and injection molders, they were concerned with confidentiality, high start up costs, speed to market, and Quality Control. We were confident that Equator Molding could over deliver.

Confidentiality

BUZBE had new innovative technology in their Hex-Lok system that they were planning on filing a patent for. We were happy to keep this info confidential while helping to finalize the design, producing molds, and moving into production before the patent was filed and the product publicly disclosed.

Design & Engineering

BUZBE had employeed a different US based engineering firm in helping convert their 2D designs into 3D models. Upon review of the design, our team discovered several mistakes from the first firm, that if not caught, may have resulted in a complete rework of the tooling.

High Mold and Start Up Costs

When BUZBE came to us, they were thinking about canceling the project due to high mold and part pricing they received previously from other domestic and overseas molders. BUZBE thought a 1 cavity or family mold was their only option available with in budget. We were able to offer 2 and 4 cavity molds for most parts, higher quality steel, all while still coming in under budget. As a result, we were also able to considerably reduce their part pricing. BUZBE is now the leader in high quality innovative tackle storage.

Tight Tolerances

BUZBE received multiple quotes from overseas and domestic mold builders. None of them could guarantee the tolerances required. BUZBE's new innovative patent pending tech would not function correctly with out these tolerances being met. With the use of our CMM machines, up to date CNC Machines, and 18 years worth of experience, we were able to achieve the required tolerances. Our Molding Facility is ISO 9001:2015 certified but can achieve even higher tolerance requirements.

Speed to Market

BUZBE was concerned that their new innovations were so great that it was only a matter of time before their competition created something similar or started to knock them off. BUZBE needed everything to be completed before ICAST, the worlds largest sport fishing trade show. Equator Molding was able to deliver ahead of schedule. EQ Mold believes transparency is the best way to handle delivery times and will never over promise or under deliver.

Quality Control & Consistency

Due to the complexity of the design and Patent Pending tech, BUZBE required precise molding and quality control so the parts would fit together correctly. In order for the product to function correctly, BUZBE required strict QC that only allowed for the right amount of friction. With multi levels of Quality Control, we were able to help BUZBE achieve their goal and minimize Warranty Claims.
